On 21st July 2024, a group of 12 retired Royal Marines will take on a marathon distance Speed March around London. Surrey Steels are proud to sponsor this great team and help to highlight and promote the issues in veterans’ mental health and the massive impact it has on their friends and families, especially children.
The participants of the Speed March next July are retired Royal Marines, all over the age of 45. They will be wearing military boots, carrying a 40lb pack, and attempting to achieve the Marathon distance.
Our very own Tim Brett will be joining the Royal Marines Veterans to support this fantastic cause. Tim will be marching (without the pack) as part of the Sponsors’ Support – the same distance and the same pace, attempting a time of 4 hours 30 mins.
Tim and the Surrey Steels Support Team kicked off their training in Scotland on the spectacular, highly challenging Aonach Eagach Ridge, under the watchful eye of RSM Baz Gray. The ridge is widely regarded as the most difficult and narrowest horizontal scrambling ridge in mainland Scotland.
